GRR met Judge Luciano Panzani, the president of the Court of Appeal in Rome, at INSOL Europe’s annual congress in Warsaw in October, where he was speaking as part of the organisation’s Judicial Wing. He offered his views on the most important aspects of Italy’s newly approved insolvency reforms (which he helped to draft), the difficulties with court-to-court communication in civil law countries, and the problem of non-performing loans in the Italian banking system.

GRR met Judge Kevin Carey of the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware at the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors’ 33rd annual conference in Dallas, where he talked about how his legacy won’t be a series of written decisions, but the time and skill he expended focusing on bankruptcy cases in the court room – and in the insolvency world outside of it.

Carlyn Taylor, global co-leader of FTI Consulting's corporate finance and restructuring segment, was named Woman of the Year 2016 by the International Women's Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC) late last year. In an interview complementing our Women in Restructuring survey, she talked to GRR about cutting her teeth in the telecoms restructuring boom of the late 1990s, mentoring younger women in the industry and balancing work with family life.
