Ricardo is a partner at the transactional and financial practice of Santamarina y Steta with more than 13 years of experience in banking and finance, project finance, restructuring and insolvency and M&A matters.
He has advised local, international and multilateral banks, development financing institutions and other financiers, project developers and companies on a large array of financing transactions including energy, transport and social infrastructure projects, as well as aircraft, vessel and other asset-backed transactions. Ricardo has advised clients not only on the origination and implementation of financing transactions but also on refinancing and restructuring aspects working together with the firm’s dispute resolution team.
He earned his law degree from Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas and has an LLM from New York University. He has also completed postgraduate studies in insolvency law at Escuela Libre de Derecho.
He is the co-author of the Mexico chapter of Lexology Getting the Deal Through: Loans & Secured Financing in 2019, 2020 and 2021.
Ricardo worked as an international associate at the New York office of Shearman & Sterling LLP during 2012 and 2013.
He has been recognised by Chambers and Partners, The Legal 500 and Best Lawyers since early on in his career.
