Mr de Luisa is a partner at Cuatrecasas’ finance group, based in Madrid. Since 1996, he has specialised in banking and financing transactions, particularly those with international exposure and related to real estate, energy (renewables) and infrastructure. He has acted on both sides of these national and multi-jurisdictional deals, advising banks, financial entities, debt funds, hedge funds, sponsors and debtors. He has extensive experience in complex debt restructuring and refinancing deals of Spanish conglomerates at pre-insolvency stages and participated in several transactions advising international investors in the acquisition of distressed debt and non-performing loans (NPLs), both portfolios and participations in syndicated corporate loans (secured and unsecured). He was directly involved in the incorporation of the Spanish bad bank SAREB and its transfer of impaired assets (€51 billion). He regularly advises international investors on bidding processes for buying distressed assets (real estate and secured corporate debt) and advises Spanish companies and debt funds on direct lending transactions in Spain. From 1999 to 2000, he was an international associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett within its finance and banking group in New York. From 2006 to 2008, he was based at Cuatrecasas’ London office, where he was responsible for the finance practice and participated in many cross-border transactions advising special situation funds. He is double-qualified in Madrid (Spain) and New York and he is regularly recommended by several directories, including The Legal 500, Best Lawyers and IFLR in banking and finance, public finance, and insolvency and restructuring.
