Damilola Odetola is an associate in the London office of Milbank LLP and a member of the European Financial Restructuring Group. She advises companies, noteholders, lenders and other parties on cross-border insolvency and restructuring matters. Damilola Odetola is admitted to the Nigerian bar and previously worked in the banking, energy, projects and infrastructure departments of a toptier commercial law firm in Lagos. She has a keen interest in emerging markets and her doctoral research aimed to introduce an African perspective to the global discourse on corporate debt restructuring. She regularly contributes to discussions on developments in restructuring and insolvency law, having published articles and book chapters on the subject. She won the 2018 International Insolvency Institute prize in insolvency studies. She is a member of the International Insolvency Institute’s NexGen Program, Insolvency Lawyers’ Association, INSOL and the International and the Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria. Dr Odetola holds a PhD from Kent Law School and a Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) from the University of Oxford. She received her LLB (firstclass honours) and BL (first-class honours) degrees from the University of Ibadan and the Nigerian Law School, finishing as the best graduating student in both institutions.
