English court denies “opportunistic” applications to block winding-up petitions

The England and Wales High Court has dismissed two applications to restrain winding-up petitions, in its first decision after the UK government announced plans to temporarily ban statutory demands and winding-up orders if a company’s failure to pay bills is related to covid-19.
