Cryptocurrency is property, New Zealand court rules

In one of the first rulings of its kind in the world, a New Zealand court has ruled that digital assets constitute property within the context of a liquidation, finding that accountholders of a bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange should not be treated as unsecured creditors.
