Court of Appeal upholds Debenhams “adoption” decision

The English Court of Appeal has affirmed that Debenhams’ administrators will be taken to have “adopted” furloughed employees’ contracts if they pay them under the UK government’s coronavirus job retention scheme, despite “good reasons of policy” for an exemption.
