Canadian court throws out claims under US retirement legislation

A Canadian court has ruled that C$1.25 billion (US$910 million) in claims accrued against the US arm of a multinational coal company under US employee retirement legislation, have no standing in the parallel Canadian insolvency proceedings of one of its affiliates.
